Although nice to have, especially for the low price, I would not consider it essential to using the textbook.

This science text gives students a simple overview of the basic elements of science from a Christian perspective. Topics such as nature, weather, seasons, personal health, and animals are presented in this beautifully illustrated four-color text. Topics are presented based on the Days of Creation.

This was one of the first pieces of curriculum I purchased when we began homeschooling years ago. It came highly recommended so I ordered both the textbook and teacher manual. The textbook itself it very nice, my kids loved looking at the pictures and the lessons are presented story book style. We loved reading this book together while we learned. Questions and coloring activities are provided throughout the book. If you are using this with preschool or kindergarten age children (as recommended), you probably won’t have them write in their answers to questions. We used the questions instead as a guide for discussion after reading.

This user-friendly, unabashedly Christian, one-year science curriculum for elementary students includes teaching lessons, gorgeous coloring pages, hands-on time, memorization lists, review sheets, creative writing assignments, and an awesome supplemental book list! Written for 3rd through 6th graders, it can easily be scaled down for younger students, making this an excellent choice for teaching all your elementary-aged kids together. The schedule of 35 weekly lessons calls for teaching twice weekly, allowing a family time for projects, exploration of resource books, field trips, etc. The conversational style gives students the basic information they need, making this an ideal first course in life science; especially useful for those following a classical approach!

This book begins with a lesson on the nature of astronomy, and then it covers the major structures of our solar system. Starting with the sun and working towards Pluto, the student will learn details about all nine planets (or is it eight? – your student will have to decide) in the solar system. Along the way, the student will also learn about earth’s moon, the asteroid belt, and the Kuiper belt. After that, the student will move outside our solar system and learn about the stars and galaxies that make up God’s incredible universe. Finally, the student will learn about space travel and what it takes to be an astronaut!
