Switched-On Schoolhouse

Meet Our Family

Here is the goofy family behind this blog!

family1Dad
Dad is a 30-something Arizona native who currently works at a Copper Mine. He plans on returning to school in the Fall of 2010. Originally a Deaf Education major, he is considering switching his major to either Geology or Biology. In addition to spending time with his family and attending church, he enjoys hunting big game, and playing and watching basketball, football and baseball.

Mom
Mom is a 20-something California native, stay-at-home Mom and sometimes freelance web designer. In addition to teaching, cooking and cleaning on a daily basis, she runs a variety of websites to help earn extra money. Mom hopes to one day become a Master Herbalist, Grandma’s nickname for Mom is the witch doctor.

family4Jada (aka J)
Jada is currently 10 years old and enjoys sewing, skating and reading. Jada especially enjoys attending church and looks forward to her Faith in God classes each month. She recently began playing the piano and loves it (and is quite good at it too!). Her favorite subject in school is geography and she sometimes likes Math. She hopes to one day become a massage therapist.

family3Brant (aka B)
Brant is our playful 9 year old. Describing him as a sports enthusiast would be a HUGE understatement! He especially enjoys playing football and baseball and spends many hours writing out plays (as in game plays). Brant is currently a Bear in Cub Scouts and enjoys attending Den meetings each week. After serving a mission one day, Brant hopes to get married and have 18 children.

Wow! I guess reading the book by the Duggar family was really inspiring!

Dixie (aka D)
We often receive funny looks when we mention having 5 children when only 4 are in tow. Dixie is our 3rd child and second daughter, and would have turned 8 years old this last April. She passed away in 2001 from complications at her birth. We miss her very much.

family2Emma (aka E)
Emma is 3 years old and full of energy! She is extremely polite and very loving to her family. Emma loves to “read” and do crafts. She recently started doing “school work” with her big brother and sister. Emma is looking forward to playing tee-ball in the Spring.

Abigail (aka A)
Ab is the baby of the family at 21 months old, but she feels like one of the oldest! She likes to read and “cook” in her kitchen. And of course, terrorize the older kids at all times!

That’s us!
