Homeschool Curriculum We Use
We are currently using the following curriculum with our children. I have
included links for each product we use to the actual publisher page. You can
also view our daily schedule to see how we
learn each day.
Handwriting Practice We start each day with a few pages from the kids handwriting books. I feel it helps remind the kids to keep things neat while writing throughout the day. In addition to our books, we also write in our journals daily. Journal writing not only provides handwriting practice, but it is also good for teaching spelling and grammar. Free printable journal pages can be found here.
We have been using Handwriting without Tears for the last few years. Kids old enough for handwriting practice are using either Printing Power or Cursive Success. You can read my review of their products.
Language Arts
We are not currently using a set curriculum for Language Arts. For vocab,
Jada (9) is working in Wordly
Wise 3000 B. Both of my oldest are using Just
Write, and Grammar Practice Simplified.
Math We use Singapore Math for our general math studies. Brant (8) is in
Workbook
3A while Jada (9) is in Workbook 4A. You can read my review of their program here.
Both kids are learning their times tables. For multiplication fact practice, I print worksheets I created.
History and Geography We are using I Love America to study both Early American History and also to learn about each of the 50 states. You can read
my review of here.
Science - Biology We recently started using Christian Kids Explore Biology for science. We supplement our learning with books and videos from the library and free science worksheets I find on the internet.
Scripture Studies We study both the Book of Mormon and the Bible
daily during homeschool. We use Book of Mormon Discovery
and Proper
Manners and Health Habits to supplement our studies. Both provide
additional writing practice and give the children an opportunity to look up
scriptures.
We also use DVD's from Living
Scriptures to reinforce stories we read from the Scriptures. The younger kids
especially enjoy these.
Elective Courses For Jada (9), we are using a Home Economics Course
which covers nutrition, kitchen safety, cooking, sewing, friendships,
personal care and more. Brant (8) is a Wolf in Boy Scouts this year and we
complete activities and projects from his scouting book.
