Hard of Hearing and Deaf Homeschool Resources
One of the reasons I opted to expand my blog into a regular website was because during my own search for hard of hearing homeschool resources, I virtually came up empty handed! This prompted me to start adding information for other parents of deaf and hard of hearing children who are looking into homeschooling, or are already doing so.
In addition to my own website, information and support to deaf and hard of hearing homeschool families can be found online at:
Talking Fingers
A place to gather and learn together as we homeschool our deaf and hard-of-hearing children. I am a hearing parent with a deaf daughter and have felt led to share what I've learned and my experiences down this delightful path.
DeafHomeschool.com
This website is ran by a homeschooling Mom and includes information on IEP's, laws and curriculum choices.
Homeschooling Deaf Children
About.com Deafness Guide, Jamie Berke, has links concerning deafness and homeschool.
Homeschooling Deaf and HoH Children
This is an email support group and information for parents who are homeschooling deaf or hard-of-hearing children. The focus of the list is on the particular challenges of homeschooling deaf and hard-of-hearing children, including IEP's, legal issues, and obtaining special ed services, as well as exploration of alternative educational approaches, presentation, and learning styles. All homeschool approaches are supported.
National Challenged Homeschoolers Associated Network (NATHHAN)
To encourage homeschooling families with special needs children, in ways that glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and equip parents to confidently raise their children with special needs or disabilities.
As you can see, this is a very small list!
If you have a favorite website related to homeschooling deaf and/or hard of hearing children, please send them my way so I can add them to the list.
