About Diary of a Homeschool Mom

So who is this person and just what do they know about homeschooling?

My name is Gerae Lindsey (many people online refer to me as Lindsey because they are unable to pronounce my name correctly, which is fine with me. But if you are interested, Gerae is pronounced just like Jenay except with an r, so Je-ray). I am a 20-something year old Mom of 4, soon to be 5, children (my youngest is now 19 months; my oldest is eight) and have been homeschooling in California, Utah and now Arizona for the last 5 years.

Because I homeschool, I receive plenty of questions about what homeschooling is all about and why I homeschool. In addition to questions about my own homeschooling adventures, I am frequently asked for information on how to start homeschooling by other parents. The most common questions revolve around the legalities of homeschooling and choosing curriculum.

I initially began Diary of a Homeschool Mom as a way for me to keep track of our families daily school activties through my online journal (or “blog”). Based on the most common questions I receive, I have added basic information on how to get started with homeschooling, what curriculum I use with my own children, and other homeschooling related resources. The information I provide is based on my own experiences with homeschooling. I hope the information is useful in some way to you - even if only to help you decide how you DO NOT want to run your homeschool!

Every family is unique, one of the many benefits to homeschooling is that you can design your “school” around your children and circumstances.

You do not have to do things the same way as me.

I am not a so-called expert on anything, I am not a “real” teacher. I do not have a degree in education, etc. I am simply a real parent who homeschools her children.

I hope you enjoy your visit and bookmark our website for the future. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.
